Event Details

An ancient monolith stands sentinel in a Cornish field for millennia. Part provocation, part meditation, part invocation, BAFTA-winning documentarian Christopher Morris’s A YEAR IN A FIELD is a record of their brief interaction.

The first blu ray release from Kier-La Janisse’s own publishing imprint Spectacular Optical, A YEAR IN A FIELD is a quiet marvel that has drawn comparisons to KOYAANISQATSI and MICROCOSMOS. This limited edition blu ray includes a rigid slipcase with artwork designed by Of Stick and Bone and a plethora of special features, including interviews with director Christopher Morris and producer Denzil Monk, Stone Club founders Lally MacBeth and Matthew Shaw, a Q&A between Christopher Morris and Will Sheff of Okkervil River hosted by The Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles and short films by Christopher Morris and Adam Scovell.

In addition to A YEAR IN A FIELD, Kier-La Janisse will also be bringing copies of TRUTH & SOUL: A ROBERT DOWNEY SR. READER which she will be selling alongside Vinegar Syndrome’s restoration of Downey’s PUTNEY SWOPE, and will be signing any Severin Films blu rays she produced that are in stock at Vinegar Syndrome Toronto – or anything relevant you bring, really!
